Day10. Gokceoren to Phellos and car to Kas

We Walked about 17k on the Lycian way today and 22k total early evening before exploring the town of Kas.

The red dotted line is the Lycian way. We set off at 9am this morning. It looked like there might be storm clouds in the distance and we realized belatedly that our host had been trying to tell us that it might rain, but we left our rain jackets in our big backpacks deciding to take our chances. There was a brief rain shower in the morning and we took shelter under trees and then all was fine until early afternoon.

Just leaving the village where we spent the night, we noticed walnuts drying on a roof.
Grapes are ready for harvest en route.
We had been walking just over 2 hours on a relatively nice dirt road, following a dry river bed when came to this sign post, surely not another 14k to Phellos?

The "big climb" was about to begin, according to Paul, 60 minutes uphill (almost no switchbacks), for about 1.2k, we were ready.
We think we're going up there somewhere.
Off we go.
Making progress.
Rewarded with mountain views.
It was much cooler and overcast making the big climb sort of okay, we had a brief stop at an abandoned old house.
And then the dark clouds started rolling in.
We had been following a lot of horse poop for quite sometime thinking that some people had been doing theater on horseback, wondering how horses could have covered the rocky terrain when we come upon 2 skittish horses all alone on the crest.
And then the rain came and the wind blew. We found shelter where we could.
Appreciated the ruins of Phellos in a hurry.

After 8 hours on the road, we were so happy to see our driver and have a quick drive to Kas.
check in to our hotel and have a hot shower.
Tomorrow is a rest day on the Greek island vet close to Kas.
