Day 6. Gey to Sidyma walk and Patara by car

The The trek should have been about 9k eastward, walking inland to the village of Gey to see some ruins and meet our driver who would drive us to the town of Patara.

After the typical "Turkish peasant" breakfast.
This time with the addition of a sweet treat that tasted like shortbread with poppyseed and some delicious Turkish bread that Fadiyme had cooked on an open fire we set off just after 9 am. The path we were to take was off the Lycian way and all was good until we couldn't find a tractor trail after the olive trees and wells. We wondered around the terraced mountainside for about an hour trying to find the path. The lycian way gps app once again came to the rescue.
Eventually we found the path and the earmarks and were on our way. The scenery was very different today, rugged and arid. We were a at from the sea for most of the day.
Once at the summit we were at 9050m and then it was down down down.
The descent at times extremely rocky.
Sawsan almost stepped on this guy
He turned up his nose at the slices of cucumber we offered him.
Shockingly we made it to the Sidyma ruins at exactly 2pm where Mustafa met us. The Greek ruins in this village really were ruins from around 2000 years ago.
At this point we had walked 10.5k in about 4.5 hours.
Then it was about 40k by car back to almost sea level in the town of Patara . This will be our base for the next three days.

After checking in at st. Nicks we decided to take the 2.5k walk to the beach for a swim.
And sunset. Trying to perfect the selfie.
A total of 16.8k for the day.
