Day 8. Car to Uzumulu and walk to xanthos.

Our wonderful organizer Paul from Amber travel joined us for our walk today and we were treated to history, archeology as well as natural history and many an interesting discussion throughout the day.
Paul arrived at st. Nick's just as we were finishing up breakfast. Mustafa was anxious to get going and so we left in somewhat of a hurry and Sawsan forgot her trekking poles and we decided wait to buy provisions for lunch at the tiny village of uzumlu.
Many grapes are grown here and we munched on some as we started our walk.
The view was of the fertiile valley below with oh so many greenhouses growing produce through the winter.
Paul was making notes on the walk which was poorly marked at times and overgrown in places.
We made our way to a Roman aquaduct spring and the water was so sweet.

We filled our water bottles and washed our faces.
Romanesque
We walked to the ancient city of xanthos but that will be another post. 15k on the trail today and about 17.7k total by Fitbit. I banged my right knee on a stonewall just before lunch today and am a bit of an ache.
Lovely dinner at st. Nick probably the best restaurant in town. Relatively early to bed.
