Day 1: pre- Lycian way walk kayakoy to Olu Deniz ~ 8km

Today's walk was truly spectacular and a perfect warm up to the official start of the Lycian way tomorrow. The walk began just across the street from our pansysion.

We got a little lost at first, stumbling through a restaurant with interesting furniture.

Then it was a climb and a walk through the ghost town, we were imagining what life must have been like a100 years ago when it was bustling with lots of Greek people during the Ottoman Empire.

A little detour for a spectacular view and the first glimpse of the Mediterranean.
Then back through the ghost town.

Then a climb over the mountain and we were rewarded with spectacular views.
View for lunch which was figs and walnuts bought from street stands. Then the descending switch backs began for a couple of hours to the blue lagoon.
We eventually made it to sea level and went for a swim, yes even I went swimming the water was so warm and buoyant and the pebbles gave a great foot massage.
And then a freshly squeezed pomegranate juice before negotiating the local minin buses to home base.

We had a slight dispute about how far we had actually walked today...... The plan from Paul said 8K but we went off route for a while and my Fitbit said 11.1k that includes all the meandering around before the walk. A relaxing dinner at a local gozleme restaurant completed the day. Tomorrow will be a big day, 14k with full packs and an ascent of more than 600 meters (that's more than 2000 feet) and the ascent today was 200 meters! We're up for the challenge.
